Freshly trimmed hedge line at a Houston home

Ligustrum line, squared and cleaned up

Plenty of tree companies won't touch hedges, apparently there's no glory in a ligustrum. We'll take the work, and we'll do it properly: sharp blades, level lines, correct timing for the species, and every clipping raked and hauled the same day.

What We Trim

Ligustrum and wax leaf privet walls, boxwood borders, viburnum screens, red tip photinia, wax myrtle, holly, eleagnus, cherry laurel, oleander, pittosporum and the rest of the Gulf Coast lineup. Formal squared hedges, natural-shape screens, and the fifteen-foot ligustrum that was a "shrub" when somebody planted it in 1995 and is now attempting to become a tree. We cut it clean, we cut it level, and everything goes in the chipper the same afternoon.

Timing and Frequency

Most Houston hedges want two to three cuts a year to stay crisp, spring and late summer at minimum. Flowering shrubs get trimmed right after they bloom, not before, or you're cutting off next year's show. Photinia is the exception to everything: trim it in dry weather only, because fresh cuts in humid spells invite the leaf spot fungus that's already killing half the red tips in town.

The Overgrown Rescue Job

Bought a house where the hedges ate the windows? Hard renovation pruning cuts overgrown ligustrum, holly and eleagnus back near the trunk and lets them regrow dense. It looks brutal for about six weeks and then comes back better than a decade of nibbling ever managed. Boxwood and some conifers can't take that treatment, they don't resprout from bare wood, so we'll tell you honestly which hedges can be rescued and which are replacements.

Hedge work is priced by the job, not the hour, most standalone hedge visits land between $150 and $450 with haul-off included, and it gets cheaper when we're already there trimming your trees. Lots of customers bundle a yearly tree prune with a hedge pass and knock both out in one morning.
